Updated: Mar 13, 2020

Celebrity Stylist and STYL advisor Cary Robinson shares her outfit ideas and fashion tips on the 4 pairs of shoes every man should own.

A: Great shoes are all about versatility, and all of these picks can be worn with multiple types of outfits, from casual to dressy. As with any list of best men's shoe styles, it comes down to your age, lifestyle, or personal preference. Here are what I believe are the 4 best men’s shoe styles you need right now!

Dress them up, dress them down. Loafers are a classic style that work with both formal and casual outfits. I suggest a brown or black pair as they are the most versatile colors and will match most men’s outfit combinations.

The chukka boot is a dress-casual shoe, which allows for tremendous versatility. Chukkas can play nicely with a suit, and can easily be worn for a casual look. My suggestion is a suede pair, as the texture adds visual interest and a rich elegance to your look.

It's great to have a casual pair of sneakers, but it's even better to have a nice pair. So nice you can wear them with a blazer kind of nice. They're perfect for the office, the bar, the weekend, the... well, you get it. I recommend a pair in white or black with a sleek and simple profile.

The final pair of shoes every man should own are a pair of leather boots. A great pair of leather boots are sleek and sophisticated and will add a bit of polish to everything. I suggest a versatile color and style that is sharp enough to dress up or down. If you're purchasing your first pair, I recommend a pair of brown leather boots. They're utilitarian in that you can wear them in a lot of adverse weather situations as well as in more elevated casual outfits.
